My Winter Bucket List Unleashed

(A little flashback Thursday: A friend and me in Germany back in 2010)

Over the course of the week I spent some time thinking about how to go about making my bucket list following last week's post and wondering what it should include. Naturally, I wanted a balance between things involving Christmas as it is one of my favorite holidays (along with the 4th of July) and, well, a way to cope with the rest of the long, long, winter. Let's be serious, the real deal comes after the holidays when I sit in my despair, so only preparing for Christmas wasn't really going to solve my deeper rooted issues. Ultimately I needed something that was going to be bullet proof. Some of the things I put on my bucket are no brainers, but it was still admittedly fun and exciting putting my ideas to fruition. (Lists really do make things more real). With that said, I'd like to share my 2014-2015 Winter Bucket List with the intention of rectifying my relationship with the spiteful cold. But first...

I knew this list had to be somewhere I could hold myself accountable and the refrigerator just didn't make the cut. I didn't feel right about clumping it with all of the other pictures and save the dates only to have the potential of it getting lost in the mix. This was too important to me! I had to think bigger...When writing my list, I tried to come up with a good hearty amount of things that I have been wanting to try, things I already enjoy, things that could benefit others, and a dash of self-care. I also left one blank space for a wild card item that can be created and used whenever. Flexibility is important!

After putting my ideas to life I placed them in an 8x10 picture frame where I can now hang it on the wall. And wait, it gets better!!! Not only can I hang it where I can always see it, BUT I can use a dry erase marker to check off each item as I complete it (and it doesn't ruin the frame).  What's great is this is something you can do either for yourself, with your significant other, or with the whole family. How great would it be to get all your kids together and collectively come up with a list of things the family would like to do together!?! You could even have the kids decorate their frame and hang it in their room. What better project than one that helps promote creativity, exploration, and goal setting? I don't know about you, but I kinda wish I had a kiddo just to do this with! How fun, eh? So maybe I can live vicariously through one of you!

In the meantime, check out my list and maybe think about creating one of your own. I mean really, what do you have to lose? If anything it might actually push you to do some of them!
