H o u s t o n B o u n d
Greetings from the Lone Star State! After hours of painstaking agony yesterday while my girlfriend and I questioned whether we should travel to Houston or not, due to all the horrendous flooding, we finally reached a verdict. Go! Some may call it stupidity, others may call it bravery, but I prefer calling it living life on the edge. Or maybe that's what I'd like to believe.

One Love
I'll go more into detail later this week, but wanted to poke my head in and say I'm still here. This was not the post I had envisioned for today, but given the circumstances I didn't feel it appropriate to put out anything else. At least not today.

Have a long and memorable weekend + links
Hi folks! We have a long weekend ahead of us and I am starting mine with a morning cup of joe on the deck while admiring this beautiful weather we are having. Feeling a bit sentimental today as I think about my Friday two years ago. Getting primped up for our wedding and celebrating our rehearsal dinner with a few of our closest family and friends.
Here's a little snapshot of us the night before the big day...

Wedding Guestboards
As I mentioned last week, we will be spending this weekend celebrating our 2-year anniversary. Two years! I still remember our wedding and the events leading up to the big day as vividly now as I did back then. At times, when I think about our beautiful day, it takes my breathe away. So much love, planning, and anticipation goes into a wedding and I believe what made our wedding so magical for us (aside from me marrying the best human) was the intimate details we incorporated into our celebration.

Friday fashion
Hi dolls! Cheers to Friday and greener grass! First things first today, I am talking work clothes and workout clothes! Summer means warmer weather which in turn means lots of dresses. During my search for Summer attire I spotted this dress from The Limited and couldn't resist. I always struggle finding dresses for work as they either scream too Friday night on the town OR I am running a campaign look. Working 10+ hours a day means I need something that's going to let me breathe, feel comfortable, and of course, super cute.

My May Playlist
Nothing beats an atmosphere filled with people shouting out the lyrics to Journey's Don't stop Believing, The Hitters Benny and the Jets, or FGL Cruise. You know, those songs everyone knows the lyrics when they pop on. Take any wedding for example. The excitement people experience when MJ's Billy Jean comes on Or the subtle joy and head bobbing you see to Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl. It's contagious!
Every concert produces a type of energy and evokes emotion with the music, musicians, and crowd. Having thousands of people collectively belt out the words to these songs while no one gives two hoots whether someone looks ridiculous or is singing out of tune. It's kind of a freeing experience.
Personally, I consider myself a music over TV gal. On any day I would always prefer jamming to some tunes over watching the boob tube. Kyle would say I have "the weirdest taste in music." Of course I disagree. Ha Ha. I do have quite an eclectic taste (and I really mean eclectic) of music. You can find me rapping to some hip hop, yes that does happen, dancing to some club/house music, head bobbing to some country, or get deep in thought with some Indie. It really depends on my mood, the season, and setting for what I choose to play. *Usually Kyle ends up liking it after its played a few times OR once he hears it on the radio.
Today I thought I'd share a little list of what I'm currently listening to. A mix of genres at best!

Bubbles & Brunch
You just can't beat a homemade brunch. Especially one made with love for Mother's Day. There are two things you may not know about me: One—I love cooking. Two—I love entertaining. Whether it be throwing parties, dinner nights, get-togethers, or celebrations, I love planning and gathering groups of people to enjoy each others company. I can't wait until we have a house of our own, I'm already dreaming of theme nights!

Have a lovely weekend + links around the web
What are you up to this weekend? We have lots of family time planned as we are celebrating Kyle's Grandma's 85th birthday, his Uncle's birthday, and lot's of Mother's Day festivities on Sunday. The weather has been amazing but is predicted to cool off this afternoon. I'm going to try and soak up the sunshine as much as possible, so this morning I'm dusting the kayak off and heading out for my first excursion of the season! Let's hope I don't fall in the water since it hasn't had enough time to warm up!
Kayaking is not only a great workout but it allows an experience to connect with water and nature on a whole different level since you are the one propelling yourself. Sometimes I'll paddle to the middle of the lake, be still, and practice some meditation and mindfulness. Nature is the perfect way to clear your mind. Some of my best ideas and insights have happened while I've been on water.
This afternoon some friends and I plan on grabbing lunch together and I'm hoping to get in a run before any storms roll in. P.S. If you haven't purchased your Mom any gifts for Mother's Day check out my gift guide here.
In the meantime here are some links around the web to get you through the rest of your Friday!
I need this beach lounger for the Summer
Loved this article. What's your internal why?
Off the shoulder dresses are in
I want these sandals!
What should never follow I love you
Gray Malin photography can now be on your phone case. I wish I had an iPhone!
Oh Tina Fey, you keep it real
Cute budget friendly sunnies I just bought
Cleveland Abduction airs tomorrow
This song frees me
Have a great weekend!

Mother's Day Gift Guide
Mother's Day is quickly approaching and with each growing year I appreciate Mother's Day more and more. I think part of it has to do with the realization that I still have the opportunity to celebrate with my mom and mom-n-law and not everyone has that same opportunity. And since I appreciate them so much, why not show them that well deserved love? I'm excited to spend some time with both of them this year as the last two years I haven't been as lucky.
Today I put together some gift ideas for those who may need some last minute ideas to pamper the lovely lady in their life! Remember there are only 3 days left to shop!

Happy Thursday! Happy shopping!

Monday Motivation-Have Everything
Weekends come and go too quickly! How was yours? Last night I told Kyle "tomorrow should be Sunday again." In my opinion yesterday was too busy for a Sunday. Friday I put in a great 6mile run. At night some of my old grad school gals and I gathered for dinner at Belair Cantina. We mowed down on chips and tacos and reminisced on life in the old days while catching up with the new.

REconnections
TGIF! Having my Friday off feels pretty great after working some pretty late nights this week. Aside from working I must admit my priorities have been a little scattered, too.
