What's your quirky habit?

Not sure what changed, but over the last few years I've found myself adopting a new habit—sleeping with socks in the bed. Before I catch some ZZZs, I throw on a fresh pair of socks and climb in the covers. Within ten minutes one sock slides off, followed by another short break before the other one gives farewell with my feet. At times I even find myself falling asleep before the second one parts ways—sleeping with one sock on! But do you want to know the strangest part???

Spring into new beginnings

It's hard to believe the first day of Spring appeared over the weekend. In fact, us Wisconsinites are still getting hit with snow... I know. And while I like the snow, I must admit I am more than ready for some warm weather to start rolling through. Some warmer weather recently teased us and over the weekend I got the itch to kayak. Unfortunately I was quickly reminded of how dangerous the water would be if I accidentally fell in, so I decided to play it safe and stick with my first bike ride of the season. Nothing beats a good bike ride, especially when you're cruising down some country roads. It made me want Summer that much more.

Spring brings lots more new beginnings this year, too. Kyle and I are eagerly in the preliminary stages of house hunting. We've hit this point a time or two but never got serious about the actual purchase part; which is kind of a major piece in owning a home. To be in a position where we are serious about taking the next step in our future excites me and scares me at the same time. I hope we can find something we like... All the good ones seem to fly off the market so quick, and other houses look perfect in their pictures and when you walk through them it makes you second guess whether you're even touring the same home you obsessed over online.

St. Patrick's Day in Chicago

Chicago. Such a fast paced energetic atmosphere with an endless array of good food, entertainment, and traditional city culture. Every time I go to Chicago I always tell myself how I need to go more often.  Then I see another year roll around before my beloved reunion with the city happens again. Lucky for me I had the chance to spend another St. Patrick's Day weekend in Chi and it was yet again another reminder of the need to travel back more often.

Treading Water

Sometimes I find myself hoping, praying, or planning how I can make things in my life go smooth. When things don't go as planned or how I envisioned I tend to have that knee-jerk reaction, pointing the finger at myself. What could I have done differently? It must be something I did. What did I do to deserve this? The list goes on.

All these negative thoughts flow naturally and it's hard to take a step back and not quickly grab onto them like a game of spoons. Yet those negative thoughts often serve no justice and really don't do much except bring me down.

St. Patrick's Day Tees

1|2|3|4|5|6
There are two things we need to get out of the way. First is my love of Amazon Prime. It's amazing. Order online and not even 24 hours later and its on my doorstep. Forewarning: it's addicting. Use with caution. My bank account continuously teaches me this lesson.

Number two on my list of loves is St. Patrick's Day. Am I Irish? There's a good chance of no, but I seem to say I have a wee bit O' green in my blood. Maybe I've said it enough where I actually believe it? Or maybe there's some truth. You're also talking to the girl who has had her last name changed throughout the generations and can't really trace her heritage too far back on one side, so it might not be saying too much.

Let's Get Physical- March Challenge

It's March! And we are on the brink of a new season. I hope. Just being captain obvious over here, but it is cold! The kind of cold that makes it hard to even do anything outside, needless to say even walk to your car. Yet with Spring sprucing around the corner this calls for a major wake up call as to how I've been treating my body. I hope you can appreciate a blog that can keep it real and not just one that lists all the rainbows and unicorns. So I want to be very honest with you. Not sure if it's the "humans are mammals so we need to hibernate when its cold" or what, but I don't take care of my body like I do in those warm sunny months. Painted toes, for example. Sweet mother of pearl, you can still find me with chipped polish from NYE. Woof. And working out? I love to work out and find it as such a great stress reliever, but I've pumped the brakes this winter. Cuddling up on the couch to some Netflix has sounded much more appealing than trying to muster up the strength to leave our place. All this neglect combined with the cold might be making me stir crazy!
